These lightweight, free flowing, mismatched silver earrings were so much fun to make. One earring has stars while I tried to create a flow of change with the moon's side. I added 24K using an ancient korean technique known as keum boo. I absolutely love adding the rich gold to my jewelry, and here especially where it helps bring depth, as well the patina lending for the organic space feel I was hoping for.
Sterling Silver, 24K bonded foil
These were inspired by my Saba, grandpa. He loved teaching me about the stars, I would sit in his study on the black leather ottoman with the llama fur, as he'd point out constellations, and even getting a huge telescope so my cousins and I could really see... I remember asking where the stars went during the, to him smiling with his huge dimples, "Junie, the stars are always there, even when the suns out. The Sun shines so bright you only see them when its on the other side of the world."
